Jon Paris

Jon got his start in the IBM midrange when he fell in love with the System/38 while working as a consultant. Through a strange quirk of fate he eventually joined IBM and helped to launch the AS/400 in 1988. Later, he was instrumental in the design and launch of the RPG IV language.

In 1998 he left IBM to focus on developing and delivering education focused on enhancing IBM “i” application development skills. More recently, Jon has been happily playing with PHP and introducing it to “i” programmers.

Jon speaks at conferences around the world, writes regular magazine articles, and with his partner Susan writes a weekly blog when he can’t think of anything better to do.
